Lake Shore is committed to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cyber Security Framework. We utilize these industry standards to identify, protect, detect, respond, and recover student and teacher data.

Our official privacy policy implements the requirements of NYS Education Law Section 2-d. This policy ensures supplemental protections for Personally Identifiable Information (PII) for students, teachers, and principals.

Parent's Bill of Rights

Your fundamental rights regarding data privacy and security.

1. Commercial Usage

Student PII cannot be sold or released for any commercial purposes by the district or third-party contractors.

2. Access & Inspection

Parents have the legal right to review and inspect the complete contents of their student’s official education record.

3. Encryption Standards

Best practices, including encryption and advanced firewalls, must be used to protect PII while in transit and at rest.

Incident Reporting & Complaints

Submit a Complaint

Parents, eligible students, and staff have the right to file a complaint regarding a possible data breach or improper disclosure of information.
