District Governance Overview
District Governance
Understanding the leadership structure and decision-making process of Lake Shore.
The Board of Education
The Board is a corporate body overseeing the district's affairs. As elected volunteers and agents of the State, the seven members are responsible for:
- Establishing district-wide goals and vision.
- Adopting and maintaining official Board Policy.
- Developing and presenting the annual budget to voters.
- Hiring and evaluating the Superintendent of Schools.
The Superintendent
The Superintendent serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the district. Unlike the Board, which sets policy, the Superintendent is responsible for:
- Managing day-to-day district operations.
- Leading all instructional and non-instructional staff.
- Implementing the policies adopted by the Board.
- Advising the Board on financial and educational trends.
Collaborative Governance
Governance at Lake Shore is not a top-down process. Through our Shared Decision Making Plan, we ensure that teachers, parents, and administrators have a seat at the table when planning for student success.
