FAQ

Are password managers safe

They use encryption so stored passwords are protected. Use a strong master password and multi factor. Do not store passwords in documents or email drafts.

What if I cannot use an authenticator app

Use text codes as a fallback. App approvals are stronger. Always save backup codes.

Do students need multi factor

Use it where offered. It reduces account takeovers and lost work.

How do I check a link safely

On a computer hover to see the real address. On a phone long press to preview. If the site looks wrong do not tap.

Should I click unsubscribe on spam

If it is from a brand you know you can unsubscribe. If it looks suspicious do not click. Report or delete.

What if my account is already compromised

Change the password. Turn on multi factor. Check recent activity and recovery email. If it is a school account contact the Data Protection Officer.

How often should I update devices

Turn on automatic updates. Restart weekly so updates finish.

What happens if I lose the phone with my authenticator

Use backup codes or your recovery method to sign in. Then add the new phone and remove the old one.
