A Message from the Superintendent, Mr. Philip Johnson
To the Lake Shore Central Schools Community:
It is with great excitement and deep gratitude that I introduce myself as the newly appointed Superintendent of Schools for the Lake Shore Central School District. I am honored to join a community that is deeply committed to the success, well-being, and growth of not only our students but also staff, families, and community.
The first time I knew I wanted to be an educator was also the first time I had a teacher who inspired me to see myself as more than I was in that moment - my fifth-grade teacher. Growing up in a small town in Illinois, I had many passionate teachers who cared about me, but that year, I found myself motivated to do everything possible to succeed because I wanted to make my teacher proud. From that moment on, I have been inspired to be that kind of educator for kids. I strive to provide a place where all students have trusted, caring adults who inspire and motivate them to do their best each day.
Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to serve in a variety of roles, including as an elementary teacher in Brooklyn, NY, a special education teacher in Buffalo, NY, and as a principal in Buffalo before spending the last nine years as principal of Windom Elementary in the Orchard Park Central Schools.
These experiences have shaped my belief in the power of strong partnerships between schools, families, and the wider community. I look forward to listening and learning from each of you—our dedicated educators, staff, students, families, and community members—as we work together to build on the district’s strengths and create even more opportunities for all learners to thrive.
Together, I believe we can do great things for the students of Lake Shore. I am committed to open communication, collaborative leadership, and creating a school environment where every student feels seen, heard, and empowered to reach their full potential. Thank you for welcoming me into this incredible community. I look forward to the work ahead and meeting many of you in the days and weeks ahead.
Warmly,
Phil Johnson
Superintendent of Schools
