Orange Shirt Day, also called Every Child Matters Day, is a day of remembrance and awareness that began in Canada and is now marked in communities across North America, including here at Lake Shore. It honors Indigenous children who were taken from their families and sent to residential and boarding schools, including children who never made it home. Wearing orange is a sign of respect and solidarity.

Every building in the district, from the High School to Hoag, asks students and staff to wear orange on September 30. It's part of Lake Shore's ongoing partnership with the Seneca Nation of Indians and our Native American Programs.

Powder Puff is one of Lake Shore's favorite Homecoming traditions. For one day, the usual roles flip: girls take the field for a flag football game while boys cheer them on from the sidelines. It's all in good fun and full of school spirit. Come watch Thursday, October 1 at 4:00 PM on the Football Field.

The Carnival runs Thursday, October 1 from 6 to 8 PM in the East Side Parking Lot. Expect a bonfire, a car smash, food trucks, a balloon artist, face painting, and games with prizes. This event is for Lake Shore High School students.

The parade begins at Village Hall on Commercial Street, heads down Main Street, and ends at the High School near the athletic entrance. Larger floats continue on through the Middle School to exit. This year's theme is Once Upon a Homecoming, so expect fairy tale heroes, superheroes, and a villain or two marching by.

Everyone is welcome. Come find a spot along Main Street with your family and cheer the parade on.

Lake Shore's Varsity Football team takes on Amherst Central High School this Homecoming, Friday, October 2 at 6:30 PM on the Football Field. The whole community is invited. Wear your green and white and help fill the stands.
