Spectator Expectations

The Lake Shore Athletic Department recognizes the role of Interscholastic Athletics in defining ethical behavior and developing personal character. We ask that all spectators—including students, parents, family, and friends—adhere to the following standards of conduct.

Behavioral Standards

• Demonstrate a high degree of sportsmanship at all times.
• Show team support by making only positive comments regarding players and coaches.
• Respect the judgment of coaches, officials, and referees without public protest.
• Acknowledge that the fields and courts are the players' domain; spectators are to remain in designated areas.
• Monitor the safety and behavior of children in the bleachers and stands.

District Policies

• All Lake Shore schools are smoke-free and substance-free environments.
• Official school rules and the District Code of Conduct apply to all home and away contests.
• Respect chaperones, security, and administrative staff as the authority at all athletic events.
Failure to comply with these expectations will lead to immediate ejection from the event.

Enforcement & Penalty Lake Shore contests are held in the spirit of healthy competition. Spectators displaying poor behavior or violating the Code of Conduct may be removed by district staff or law enforcement.

Removal Penalty: Any spectator removed from a game (home or away) faces a minimum one-game suspension and must complete the NFHS Parent Credential course before being permitted to return to any future district athletic event.

Note: The School District reserves the discretion to enhance suspensions for egregious violations. Remember, you are a representative of the Lake Shore school community.

State Sportsmanship Standards

As a member of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA), Lake Shore Central Schools adheres to the highest standards of interscholastic ethics. We encourage all members of the Eagle community to review the official state-level expectations regarding fair play, respect, and the "Sportsmanship Matters" initiative.
