The Pursuit of Excellence

Interscholastic athletics at Lake Shore are a voluntary extension of the physical education program. We provide an outlet for students whose development fits them for strenuous sports, emphasizing health, fitness, character, and physical skills.

Academic Priority

Athletes are student-athletes first. We encourage every participant to maintain their best possible grades, and our coaches cooperate by providing necessary time for help classes and dedicated study periods.

Respect & Integrity

Our program is highlighted by a strict respect for authority, personal integrity, and a sense of fairness. These values are non-negotiable pillars of the Lake Shore athletic experience.

Department Goals

  • Train in citizenship, responsibility, and loyalty.
  • Provide worthy use of leisure time.
  • Impart lifelong habits of health and fitness.
  • Teach skills and attitudes with carryover value.
  • Promote mutual friendship and respect.
  • Develop a common pride in school and community.

Program Standards

  • Be a coordinated part of secondary education.
  • Justify use of district funds for educational benefits.
  • Maintain the spirit of amateurism.
  • Offer a wide variety of sports every season.
  • Monitor and limit commercialism.
  • Foster sportsmanship for participants and spectators.

State Standards

Lake Shore Central Schools operates in full alignment with the New York State Public High School Athletic Association. We expect all participants, coaches, and spectators to uphold the values established by the state's governing body.

New York State Code of Ethics
• Emphasize proper ideals of sportsmanship and ethical conduct.
• Eliminate possibilities that destroy the values of the game.
• Show cordial courtesy to visiting teams and officials.
• Respect the integrity and judgment of game officials.
• Promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being above winning.
"Remember that an athletic contest is only a game, not a matter of life and death for a player, coach, official, fan, or community."
