Evans Tree Lighting Ceremony Brings the Community Together

The Town of Evans kicked off the holiday season with a strong turnout at this year’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Evans Town Hall. Families filled the space, bundled up and ready to celebrate despite the cold weather.
The evening opened with Christmas classics performed by the J.T. Waugh student chorus, followed by a musical performance from Chris Panfil. Their songs set the tone for a warm and festive community gathering.
Santa and Mrs. Claus made a special appearance from 6–7pm, greeting families, posing for photos, and spreading plenty of holiday cheer.
Middle and high school student leadership teams helped run activity stations throughout the event. Students supported hot chocolate service, cookie decorating, craft tables, and letter-writing to Santa, giving younger children hands-on ways to take part in the celebration.
Thank you to the Town of Evans, Evans Town Hall staff, J.T. Waugh students and teachers, the student leaders from the middle and high school, and musician Chris Panfil. A special thanks also goes to event sponsors NBT Bank, Chiavetta’s Catering, and Pat’s Pizzeria for helping make the evening possible.
With music, community spirit, and a beautifully lit tree, Evans welcomed the holiday season on a high note.
