Lake Shore Eagles Take on "AI Quests" for National AI Literacy Day
High School students collaborate with Google Research and Stanford to solve real-world challenges.
ANGOLA, NY – On March 27, the classrooms of Lake Shore Senior High School transformed into digital research hubs as students celebrated National AI Literacy Day. In a unique collaboration between Mrs. Schifano’s Computer Skills class and District Tech Integrator Mr. Drezek, students participated in AI Quests, an immersive learning experience developed by Google Research and the Stanford Accelerator for Learning.
Stepping into the roles of digital researchers, our Eagles tackled the "Flood Forecasting" mission. This hands-on challenge required students to collect and evaluate rainfall and river data to train predictive models. Beyond simply using technology, the mission pushed students to understand how human judgment and data quality directly impact the AI tools used to solve global problems in climate and health.
The initiative highlights Lake Shore’s commitment to providing students with "The Lake Shore Experience"—an education rooted in tradition but always ready for the future. By engaging with high-level tools from global research leaders, our students continue to prove that they are ready for the challenges of tomorrow.
