New Green Bin at Lake Shore Turns Old Clothes Into Science Scholarship Support
ANGOLA, NY – A new bright green donation bin is now open on Eagle Drive next to the Carrier Educational Center, giving community members a way to recycle unwanted clothing while helping Lake Shore Senior High School students. The bin, part of a new partnership with Clothes Bin®, went into service on Thursday, August 20.
Every pound of clothing, footwear, accessories, and handbags dropped in the bin helps support the Bill Sheehan Science Scholarship at Lake Shore. Instead of ending up in a landfill, gently used items are collected and recycled through Clothes Bin®'s network, and the school receives a payment based on the total weight collected. Science teacher Wendy Kawaler and colleague Kacie Marchetti have led the effort to bring the bin to campus.
