Lake Shore Schools to Celebrate Mental Health Awareness with District-Wide Spirit Week

Prioritizing Wellbeing: Spirit Week 2026
ANGOLA, NY – Lake Shore Central Schools will host a district-wide Mental Health Awareness Spirit Week from May 18th through May 22nd. Led by the Family Support Center, this initiative aims to provide students with practical tools for emotional wellbeing while fostering a culture of support across all six district buildings.
The week-long event features daily themes designed to engage students in conversations about mental health. Highlights include Mindful Monday, where students are encouraged to wear pajamas to emphasize the importance of rest, and Tie-Dye Tuesday, celebrating the wide spectrum of human emotions. The week concludes on Friday with a district-wide "Green Out" to show solidarity for mental health awareness.
Spirit Week Schedule
Monday: Pajama Day
Tuesday: Tie-Dye Day
Wednesday: Wellness (Activewear)
Thursday: Positive Message/Hero Day
Friday: Lake Shore Green Day
Beyond the daily dress-up themes, the district is highlighting the essential services provided by the Family Support Center (FSC). By collaborating with local partners like Best Self, Harmonia Collaborative Care, and Horizon Health Services, Lake Shore ensures that students have access to professional counseling and mental health resources directly within their school environment.
“Taking the time to slow down and check in on one another is a vital part of the Lake Shore experience,” says the Family Support Center team. “Spirit Week is a joyful way to remind our students that they are never alone and that our staff is here to walk alongside them.”
Families are encouraged to participate by discussing these themes at home and utilizing the resources available through the FSC.
