W.G. Houston Middle School Students Explore Futures at Indigenous Career Fair

ANGOLA, NY – W.G. Houston Middle School students recently visited SUNY Onondaga Community College to participate in the Indigenous Student College and Career Fair. The event provided an immersive look at post-secondary opportunities through interactive workshops, campus tours, and professional panels.
Hands-On Career Exploration
Throughout the day, students engaged in STEM-focused workshops and attended presentations on financial resources. A highlights of the trip included a student-led panel where current college students shared their personal experiences and insights regarding the transition from middle school to higher education.
The visit was coordinated by Suzanne McGough, Native American Academic and Cultural Coordinator, as part of the New York State My Brother’s Keeper Indigenous Education Grant. This program, funded by the New York State Education Department, aims to provide students with the inspiration and practical tools necessary to navigate their future academic and professional paths.
